    You are almost halfway through your pregnancy!


    Time for a new check-up with your obstetrician to see whether your child is growing properly and is healthy, the 20-weeks ultrasound.

    On average, at this moment, the top of your uterus almost reaches your navel. Your baby has now reached about half its final length. This corresponds nicely with the duration of the pregnancy, as you are almost halfway there.

    To stay fit before and get into shape after the delivery, it is important to get in some regular calm exercise, such as yoga, swimming of walking. You can do this at your own pace and adapt it to the phase of the pregnancy. You don’t necessarily have to train your stomach muscles.


    Because the development of the senses is in full swing, it is possible that the baby can hear singing or talking. He or she will mainly hear the beating of your heart and all other sounds your body makes.

    As no subcutaneous connective tissue is formed yet, the baby’s skin looks wrinkly. From now on, subcutaneous connective tissue is being made.

    The downy hair your child got a few weeks ago, will now gradually fall out again. This will be replaced by stronger hair, especially on the head. In addition, your baby now also has real eyebrows.

    Your baby is now very agile and can just as easily stick a toe in its mouth as a thumb.
