Wij vragen jullie hulp want die kunnen wij goed gebruiken.
“De keuze voor geboortezorg staat op het spel en daarom voeren wij actie!”
Zoals jullie in de praktijk, de krant maar ook op onze instagram misschien al hebben gelezen heeft de minister van volksgezondheid Ernst Kuipers het plan om van integrale bekostiging in de geboortezorg een voldrongen feit te maken.
Dit betekend dat in de toekomst de verzekeraars de “pot met geld” voor geboortezorg aan het ziekenhuis geven en alle geboortezorgmedewerkers en de kraambureaus in onderhandeling moeten met het ziekenhuis qua betaling. Kort door de bocht: het ziekenhuis betaald & bepaald dan de geboortezorg.
Het is inmiddels in landen om ons heen al bewezen dat dit de geboortezorg en uitkomsten niet ten goede zal komen, er is in dit verhaal geen verbetering in kwaliteit. Ook lijkt hierdoor op termijn de keuzevrijheid van de zwangeren met wie en waar je wil bevallen te vervallen. Dit geldt voor verloskundigenpraktijken maar ook voor kraamverzorgenden. Het gaat vooral over zorgverzekeraars en geld en er wordt niet gekeken naar de wens van de zwangere vrouw en de baby.
Wij zijn dan immers een groot geheel en aangesloten bij het ziekenhuis met de regels van het ziekenhuis. Wie betaald, bepaald!
Franka Cadée, President International Confederation Midwives schreef al eerder: “Tegen de macht van het ziekenhuis kan de kleine vrouwvriendelijke zorg door verloskundigen niet opboksen. Willen wij dit voorkomen, dan zullen wij de integrale bekostiging van de geboortezorg een halt moeten toeroepen.”
En dat is wat wij van jou vragen. Alleen de Tweede Kamer kan dit plan nog tegenhouden in de komende twee weken. Hiervoor willen wij aanstaande dinsdag weer als “Call the Midwife” verloskundigen naar Den Haag om de petitie en inmiddels 180.000 handtekeningen aan te bieden.

We ask for your help because we can really use it right now. “The choice for maternity care is at stake and that is why we are taking action!”
As you may have already read in our practice, the newspaper but also on our instagram, the Minister of Health Ernst Kuipers has the plan to make integral funding in birth care an accomplished fact.
This means that in the future the insurers will give the “money” for maternity care to the hospital and all the midwifery practices and the “kraamzorg”-offices will have to negotiate with the hospital in terms of payment. In short: the hospital pays & then determines the birth care.
It has already been proven in countries around us that this will not benefit birth care and outcomes, there is no improvement in quality in this story. This also means that the freedom of choice of pregnant women with whom and where you want to give birth seems to expire in due course. This applies to midwifery practices but also to maternity nurses (kraamzorg). It mainly concerns health insurers and money and the wishes of the pregnant woman and the baby are not taken into account.
After all, we are then a large entity and affiliated with the hospital with the rules of the hospital.
Franka Cadée, President International Confederation Midwives previously wrote: “The small female-friendly care provided by midwives cannot compete with the power of the hospital. If we want to prevent this, we will have to put a stop to the integral funding of birth care.”
And that's what we ask of you. Only the House of Representatives (de Tweede Kamer) can stop this plan in the next two weeks. For this, lots of midwives go to The Hague as “Call the Midwife” midwives next Tuesday to offer the petition and now 180,000 signatures.
